Seems like only yesterday that the government of Bahrain had its neighbors invade the country in order to quell popular protests. Well, that was technically March 2011, but you get the point. It also seems like only yesterday that the government of Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa decided to demolish the monument that marked the central meeting point for protesters, Pearl Square (in the capital of Manama). Oh, hell, that was all the way back in March 2011 as well.
The good news is that this past week a court in Bahrain sentenced nearly 30 people to prison for even trying to enter Pearl Square following the initial stages of the crackdown in 2011. Yes, that and a well-known anti-government activist was blown up.
